Aspen Country Hills is a family-run wedding venue near Edmonton, Alberta, owned and operated by Josh and Astra. Set in the rolling countryside near Evansburg, our venue was created for couples who want more than a one-day rental.
We wanted to build a place where families and friends could slow down, stay together, celebrate outdoors, and enjoy a full wedding weekend surrounded by forest, open skies, rolling hills, and peaceful country views.
For Josh, this land has always been home. He has lived on the family farm for more than 35 years, growing up with the hills, trees, fields, and wide-open Alberta sky that now make Aspen Country Hills such a special place for weddings.
Astra was a school teacher in Edmonton before moving out to the farm in 2019, where the two of them began building a life, a family, and eventually a wedding venue together.

The idea for Aspen Country Hills started in an unexpected way. Since 2017, Josh had hosted The Womp Music Festival on the property. Year after year, guests would look around at the rolling hills, forested spaces, and beautiful views and ask the same question:
“Do people ever get married out here?”
At first, it was just a comment. Then it became a recurring question. Guests saw what we had always known — that this land had something special about it. The peaceful setting, the natural beauty, the privacy, and the feeling of being away from everything while still being close enough to Edmonton made it feel like the perfect place for weddings.
That question planted the seed for what would become Aspen Country Hills.
After seeing how many people connected with the property, Josh began visiting and studying farm wedding venues throughout Alberta. He looked at what couples needed, what guests enjoyed, and what made a wedding venue feel both beautiful and practical.
The property already had existing buildings, but they needed a new purpose. Josh began tearing them back down to the frame and rebuilding them into spaces that could serve real wedding days. Over the next several years, the farm slowly transformed into a private wedding destination with a rustic barn reception space, forest ceremony area, getting-ready spaces, accommodations, camping areas, bell tents, RV space, and thoughtful guest amenities.
Aspen Country Hills officially opened in 2020. Since then, it has continued to grow every year, with new features, improvements, landscaping, and details added to make the experience better for couples and their guests.
Today, Aspen Country Hills is known as a beautiful outdoor wedding venue in Alberta with a peaceful forest ceremony space, rustic barn reception area, on-site farmhouse, luxury bell tents, camping, RV options, and room for families and friends to celebrate together for a full weekend.

When you book Aspen Country Hills, you are not booking a corporate event hall or a venue run by people who only show up on wedding day. You are working directly with the family who built the venue, lives the business, cares for the property, and continues to improve it year after year.
Josh and Astra are hands-on owners. From answering questions during the planning process to preparing the grounds, helping with setup, maintaining the accommodations, improving the ceremony and reception spaces, and supporting couples on the day of the wedding, we take pride in being personally involved.
Many couples tell us that one of the things they appreciated most was feeling supported, heard, and taken care of. We know how many moving parts go into a wedding, and our goal is to make the experience feel as calm, organized, and stress-free as possible.
Aspen Country Hills is also our family’s home and future. We now have two young children, and depending on the day, you may see them tagging along while Josh or Astra works around the venue. This place is part of our everyday life, and we believe that is one of the reasons it feels so warm, personal, and cared for.

But what means the most to us is when people notice the care behind it.
Reviews often mention how supported couples felt, how responsive Josh and Astra were, how smoothly the wedding day went, and how much effort went into making the venue beautiful and functional. That is exactly what we hope every couple feels when they choose Aspen Country Hills.
